“It’s only after you’ve stepped outside of your comfort zone that you begin to change, grow, and transform!”
Deanna Raymond Allen, PA
Certified Integrative Psychiatric Physician Assistant
Deanna entered the healthcare field as a Hospital Corpsperson in the United States Naval Reserves after high school. While in the Navy she studied Medical Laboratory Technology at Alfred State College where she earned an AAS degree. She worked in the field a few years before entering Midwestern University’s Physician Assistant Program. Upon graduating from PA school in 1997-Deanna first worked in Primary Care and Women’s Health. In 2001 she received her calling into the field of psychiatry and accepted a position in community mental health where she provided mental health and substance abuse treatment for 21 years. While working with this complicated and chronic patient population Deanna began to recognize that focusing on medications alone rarely improved her patient’s overall quality of life. But when diet, lifestyle, gut health, genetics, micronutrient deficiencies, toxins, inflammation, and sleep habits are also addressed-dramatic improvements can be expected-especially in highly motivated individuals! This alternative approach led her to study at the Integrative Psychiatry Institute 1 year fellowship program in Boulder, CO where she earned her CIPP credentialling in June 2021. She also completed PESI’s Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider training course.
Deanna joined Whole Mental Wellness in September 2021 and is excited to be a part of this team! A quote from Deanna’s 17-year-old daughter during a tour of the WMW building “Mom, this is TOTALLY your vibe!” Deanna agrees!
