Sherie Richards Ramsgard, MSN, NPP.
Practitioner & Owner of WMW
Sherie brings over 26 years of education and experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups of all ages in the areas of mental health and wellness. Sherie’s dream has always been to have her own practice where she could focus on wellness as a key component in mental health while working collaboratively with clients. Whole Mental Wellness is a vision that was a long time coming with a lot of support from friends, family, and previous clients.
Originally from Lake Placid, NY, where she received a Regent’s Diploma and several scholarships, Sherie received her Associates’ degree in Nursing from Canton ATC. She continued on to receive her Bachelor’s in Science Nursing from SUNY Utica/Rome. Her first psychiatry experience was at an
Inpatient New York State psychiatry facility, downstate, where she worked with clients between 18-100 years old.
After three years downstate, Sherie relocated to the Syracuse area to be closer to family and friends. She started an exciting six-year employment experience at the Benjamin Rush Center, a private psychiatric center in Syracuse. While there, Sherie also attended Syracuse University and received her Master’s in Science Nursing as a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist.
During that time, Sherie married a local man and had two beautiful children. While she took time off from her career to raise her family and help her husband with his architecture and furniture business, Sherie went back to Syracuse University to earn her Family Nurse Practitioner degree and became dual-licensed as a Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Sherie then worked in the Upstate University Hospital Outpatient Mental Health Clinic and at a private outpatient psychiatry office.
After this, Sherie spent two years developing the Psychiatry program at Syracuse University and working as a psychiatric nurse supporting students in Syracuse University’s Health Services department.
She received the MSN Research Award from Syracuse University in 1998, with her thesis/research on Presence and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. In 2001 she received the Advanced Psychiatric Nurse of the Year Award from the Syracuse Area Psychiatric Nurses Association. She has presented at several local and national conventions on various mental health-related topics.
Sherie proudly opened Whole Mental Wellness in 2014 and enjoys working with people of all ages to help them on their wellness journeys.
